William Gordon "Gordy" Flink, 62, of rural Erhard, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at his home.

He was born May 5, 1948, in Pelican Rapids, the son of Peter and Amelia May (Corbin) Flink. He attended school at Adams Elementary and Fergus Falls High School.

On Aug. 18, 1973, he married Bobbie Jaenisch in Webster, S.D. Over the years he worked for General Electric, and later for Jerry Knutson at Knutson Electric.

In 1979, he started his own business, Gordy's Electric, which he operated until 1996.

From then until his retirement in the fall of 2001, he was employed at Bigwood Electric Motor in Wahpeton.

Gordy began learning Tae Kwon Do in the late 1970s, and progressed through the ranks to attain his Black Belt in 1986.

He was a student of Master Eric Greenquist, and also taught Tae Kwon Do as an instructor at the Fergus Falls Community College in the late 1980s.

Gordy enjoyed the great outdoors. Fishing our beautiful lakes, bow fishing, deer hunting, and camping were all activities he liked to share.

He was a farmer, and an excellent mechanic who enjoyed making things work. He was also an animal lover, and will be sadly missed by his dog, Wolfie.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, William Gordon Flink II; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Flink of Erhard; his children, William Gordon "Bill" Flink III of Mobridge, S.D., Amy (Shawn) Kester of Fergus Falls, and Shawna Mohn of Casper, Wyo.; two grandsons, Patrick Kester and Justin Kester; two brothers, Peter Thomas (Sue) Flink of Prior Lake and Joel Jeffrey (Sam) Flink of Moorhead; a brother-in-law, Jon (Julie) Jaenisch; nieces, Jessica Roberts, Joanna (Greg) Kjono and Kelley (Brian) Buckman; and nephews, Tony (Darcy) Flink, Philip (Shelly) Flink and Thomas J. Flink.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
